Wonderful Nurses and Doctors
My son was born at 38 weeks and weighed in at 5 pounds 5 ounces. Once he
was born, the doctors and nurses quickly discovered that he was not breathing
right and couldn't keep his temperature up at normal levels, so they took him
to the special care nursery, which is a step down from the NICU but not in the
regular nursery. He was in there for eight days in which they found out after
numerous tests that he had Gerd, the fancy word for babies that have acid
reflux and also sleep apnea. The nurses and doctors were wonderful; they were
so helpful and made sure I felt totally comfortable bringing home my son. They
helped me with the machines he was coming home on and also helped me get certified
in infant CPR. The nurses were also very good with the fact that I was a single
mom and also had a four year old at home and made sure there was always some
paper and a stray pen or pencil there so that while I was there visiting in the
morning and at night my daughter would also be entertained. I would and have
suggest anyone that is having a baby wither sick or not to have their baby at
St. John's Mercy. It is a great hospital and some very kind and wonderful
nurses and doctors.
