The Absolute Best

St John's Mercy is, by far, the ABSOLUTE BEST children's hospital in the region. I spent about a week restricted to bed rest in inpatient care before I delivered my baby girl by emergency cesarean at St John's Mercy. The Labor and Delivery nurses and doctors were all wonderful. They were always willing to do whatever they could to help me. They never, not even for a second, took their eyes off of my monitors. I felt very reassured that whatever complications I was experiencing, they were going to attended to my needs immediately. They were great! My baby girl was born on July 10, 2009—at just 24 weeks—weighing only 1 lb. 6 oz. It has been a long road and my baby girl is still in the NICU...but getting closer and closer to coming home everyday.

The NICU can be quite the rollercoaster of events. Honestly, it's hard, but without all of the support and encouragement of the NICU staff, I would have never made it through in one piece. They had my tiny fragile baby in their hands and did everything they could to get her through every hurdle that she ran into. All of the NICU staff—from doctors and nurses, to respiratory therapists and unit secretaries—did everything they could to go above and beyond that of their job duties. Because of them, my very tiny micropreemie baby that was once 1 lb., and oh so fragile, is now 7 lbs. and doing great...and looking forward to coming home for the holidays!

I love St. John's Mercy and would never even have to think twice about choosing a children's hospital in the future, because the answer is right in front of me!
