My Grandkids!
I have to tell you that St. John's Mercy has been so lovingly helpful to our family.
First of all, Dr. Gerald Lowther is the pediatrician we have for all of our grandkids. Our experience with St. John's Mercy started when our 12-year-old granddaughter, Kaley, was in kindergarten and scraped her thigh. We were sent over to your hospital immediately after Dr. Lowther found out there was a problem. They set Kaley up with some of the top doctors, which I am sure Dr. Lowther told them to do. Within a day they found the staph germ, and she was on the mend. We were so thankful for all the love and help, as well as how quickly they acted. Today, thanks to them and our dear Lord, Kaley is an active and adorable 12-year-old.
Then my daughter-in-law had quadruplets at St. John's Mercy on July 9, 2005. They were so quick, helpful and understanding to our already-large family. They taught our immediate family how to care for and nurture the babies. We actually have a very good friend in the NICU, Shayla Fulghum, who gave up her Wednesdays for more than a year (with the help of her 5-year-old daughter and mother) and helped me watch the babies while their Mom went back to work. The quads stayed about 28 days until we were able to bring them home. They are four years old now and doing well.
But on Aug. 10, 2008, the oldest one, Breana, developed a problem with her blood. We were scared to death that it was Leukemia. However, it was too little white count and she bruised easily. They brought her in by ambulance, and she was treated like a queen. They determined the problem, consoled my daughter-in-law, and had her going home the next day. All is well. Breana Nicole, Cassidy Marie, Chase Richard and Jamilynn Rose are adorable. God has blessed us with all seven grandchildren we have.
These were three stories I felt should be told. Keep doing what you are doing to ease people when the time arises. God bless you all.
