Everyone Was Supportive

Anna was born in October 2008. She is our first baby and we were really excited and nervous about her birth. She was born at 1am perfectly healthy. On our first afternoon with her we spent time feeding and holding her. After one feeding she began coughing, luckily one of my nurses (who just happened to be in the room checking on me) was also a baby nurse. I've never seen a person move so fast. Before I knew it she had the baby and was out the door. We didn't realize it at the time, but Anna had such severe reflux that she was unable to breathe. She spent the next 5 days in the Special Care Nursery at St. John's. Everyone was supportive and helpful, even allowing us to have a hospitality room so we could be near her. I know she did stop breathing one other time in the Special Care Nursery, but I wasn't there to witness it. I don't know the names of either of the nurses who helped my daughter breathe. We are thankful for them every day! We wouldn’t have a family if it weren't for their quick thinking, actions and caring.
